The main aspects of the department work are based on enhanced scientific and research activities aim to achieve effective national CD surveillance and control; immunoprophylaxis; implementation of disinfection, sterilization and vector control practices; preparation of guidelines, regulations and manuals; provision of expert advice and conduction of postgraduate courses for medical specialists from RHIs and medical establishments focused on CD surveillance and prevention; media dissemination of health knowledge to public. The department is consists of three units: “Epidemiology”; “Epidemiological Surveillance and Early Warning” and “Disinfection, Disinsection and Derating”. Functional part of Department “Epidemiology and CD surveillance” is the National Immunization and Consultative Centre (NICC), established for providing expert consultations; vaccine applications on children and adults; certificates issuing as well as to conduct courses for medical specialists concerning vaccinepreventable diseases. The NICC is one of the National designated immunization centers for Yellow fever vaccination under IHR (2005).
